Lifegain Commander decks
Gaining life does not win games on its own: the archetype works when every point of life triggers something — counters, card draw, tokens or damage. It is one of the few plans that survives an aggressive table while it assembles its engine.
Cards that define the archetype
Ranked by how much MORE they are played inside the archetype than in the rest of Commander. Generic staples (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet…) fall out for exactly that reason: they are played everywhere equally.
